The Need for Ethics Committee Review

BAL-TAM (Balkan Turkology Research Center) Turkish Studies Journal requires an "ETHICS COMMITTEE REPORT" stating that the protection of human and group rights in social science research, the prevention of harm, and obtaining informed consent should be considered within the framework of environmental protection for articles submitted to the journal.

Among the expectations from the authors is a clear statement indicating that the studies have been approved by the ethics review committee and the submission of a copy of the approval letter for the study protocols. In exempted studies from review, it is requested that this status be clearly stated, and if necessary, a letter detailing the permissions should be provided. Depending on the origin of the BAL-TAM Turkish Studies Journal letter, the right to request additional explanations is reserved. If it is determined that the author has not fulfilled the role of the ethics committee, it is a requirement for the study to be submitted to a legal ethics committee. If not submitted to a legal ethics committee, authors should do so, and no decision should be made until it is approved.

Among the fundamental principles of ethical research are the protection of the emotional well-being, physical integrity, rights, dignity, and personal values of research participants, full informed consent of participants, the right to voluntary participation, independence, disclosure of conflicts of interest and impartiality, anonymity of information from participants, and ensuring confidentiality.
